Tyson Voelkel

Tyson Voelkel is president of the Texas A&M Foundation. Prior to joining Texas A&M, he led a Houston-based consultancy focused on building, managing and advising ultra-high net worth family offices. He also served as COO for a multibillion-dollar holding company consisting of more than a dozen operating companies and philanthropic endeavors. 

Mr. Voelkel served as a U.S. Army infantry officer for 12 years. His military service includes posts in Europe, the U.S. and Middle East. He twice served as a company commander in combat in the 82nd Airborne Division, earning numerous awards including two Bronze Stars in Iraq, the Department of the Army MacArthur Leadership Award, and Army Ranger and Airborne Qualification Badges. He taught leadership and ethics at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He continues to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. 

Mr. Voelkel has served on numerous boards and enjoys having a positive impact on organizations. He was the first student regent appointed to the Texas A&M University Board of Regents, and he currently serves on the Texas A&M Board of Visitors, Galveston A&M Board of Visitors and the Bush School of Government and Public Service Advisory Board. He has also served as a class agent for the class of 1996. 

He holds a degree in industrial distribution from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in international affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and an MBA from Rice University.
